About the project
Parry is a platform for community mapping and civic participation. It gives residents and local initiatives a way to surface places that matter, share ideas and organise around neighbourhood projects.
A CitizenTech project, Parry has grown from its cycling-community origins into a broader space for local participation.
My work across web and mobile
I built the web experience using React, extending my work on Parry beyond the mobile app and into the browser.
I also built the React Native mobile application, integrating Mapbox for the map experience and Firebase as the backend.
How the project evolved
The earlier cycling app focused on local knowledge: riders could mark dangerous, safe and useful places, then learn from the experiences of other cyclists.
That focus has since expanded into the platform at parry.vote. Cycling maps now sit alongside neighbourhood initiatives, with shared maps and voting helping communities express what they want to change and where their priorities lie.
Parry today
The current platform brings together citizens and local initiatives through interactive maps. Its quadratic voting system lets participants express not only which proposals matter to them, but how strongly they feel about them.
- Discover local initiatives and their projects.
- Add map spots to share suggestions, useful places and areas that need attention.
- Vote on community contributions and make local priorities visible.
